Frequently Asked Questions About Adopting a Bernedoodle Puppy

At what age can my Bernedoodle puppy come home with me?

We recommend that you pick up your puppy between 9 and 10 weeks old. This is the age where we feel the puppies get the most benefit of time with their littermates, while also giving you the opportunity to take advantage of their most trainable weeks.

What are the first things I should do with my puppy?

Introduce them to their new potty spot as soon as you get home. Depending on their trip to get home, they will very likely be ready to go to the bathroom. You will also want to give them a tour of their new house and introduce them to any other pets that live in the household. Allow a lot of time the first few days, for them to rest, the transition of leaving their first home and littermates can tire them out!

Will my Bernedoodle shed?

Our Mini Bernedoodle puppies' coat types result in very little to no shedding.

Do you offer pet transport/delivery?

We do not have our own transportation/delivery service; however, we can recommend a few different transporters that we have utilized previously. We are happy to help arrange these services at the cost of the buyer.

Does my puppy get any training before pick up?

From quite a young age, we begin exposing your puppy to the crate, leash, and harness. They also learn pretty early on to go outside to use the bathroom. We do not offer formal training at this time. Check out our Baxter and Bella page for more info on their training program. If interested in a stay-and-train program, reach out for recommendations!

How can I pay for my puppy?

We accept card payments through our website. We also accept in-person payments via card or cash.

Do you charge sales tax?

A 6% sales tax is added to the total price of any puppy pickup here in Pennsylvania. (No sales tax is charged if the puppy is delivered/picked up outside of Pennsylvania)

Can I choose my puppy?

Most definitely! You can choose from our available puppies online, place a deposit to join a waitlist to pick a pup from a future litter, or you can come visit and meet the available puppies!

How do I reserve a puppy?

Please reach out to us with the information on what litter or puppy you are interested in placing a deposit for. Then you can use our Deposit Page to place your deposit. Deposits are non-refundable.

Can I visit the puppies before adoption?

Of course! Please reach out to us to schedule an appointment to come visit our farm in Millersburg, PA.

Can I bathe my new puppy?

We do bathe them before pickup, but we understand you might be excited to bathe them too! However, please refrain from bathing them more than once a week, as it can cause dry skin. You can also use moisturizing and soothing shampoos to further help mitigate skin irritation from baths!

How often should we feed our new puppy?

At Dream Villa Pets, we use the free feed method. They have access to food at all times and only eat when they’re hungry. If you choose to do timed feeding, do 3 meals daily, then down to 2 meals daily around a year old.

What are the different milestones in our puppy's life before we pick it up?

Around 2 weeks old, your puppy will open their eyes, and their sense of hearing will come. This is the same age we start preventative dewormer care. Going into weeks 3-4, they begin to become more active, learning to walk and starting to play. Around 6-7 weeks, they really become playful and fun! In these weeks, they have their first vet visit and receive their first round of immunizations.

What health info do I need to know about my puppy?

At the time of pick-up, we provide a vet certificate and documentation of any immunizations and dewormer they have received. If you have a puppy reserved before the vet check and our vet happens to find anything concerning in the check, we will notify you and discuss your options with you.

What comes with my puppy?

You can see the list of items that come in the Take Home package that you receive with your puppy on this page on our website!

What should I prepare before bringing my puppy home?

Make sure you have decided on a dedicated potty spot, install baby gates to keep your new puppy out of places they are not supposed to go and make sure any cords or other potentially dangerous things are out of sight and out of reach! Also make sure you have a vet appointment scheduled within the first 10 days of your puppy’s go home date!
